Set up your Hytale server

This guide covers what we confirmed on a real OmneHosting Hytale server. Hytale is a new game, so its server software and steps can change.

What to expect

Section titled “What to expect”
  • The install is quick. It only downloads Hytale’s official Downloader tool.
  • The game itself downloads the first time you start the server, so the first start takes longer.

First start: sign in with your Hytale account

The first time you press Start, the Console prints a login request like this:

  1. Open the link in the Console. It goes to Hytale’s own login page (oauth.accounts.hytale.com).
  2. Sign in with your Hytale account and enter the authorization code shown in the Console.
  3. Go back to the Console. The server continues once you have approved the login.

The server will stay on Starting and the game will not download until you complete this step. The code is short-lived. If it expires, stop the server and start it again to get a new one.

Settings on the Startup page

Section titled “Settings on the Startup page”

These are the Hytale settings you can change, with their defaults:

Setting Default What it does
Patchline release Which version stream to download: release or pre-release.
Auth mode authenticated How players are checked when they join: authenticated or offline. Leave it on authenticated unless Hytale’s documentation or our support tells you otherwise.
Allow OP off Whether operator commands are allowed.
Accept early plugins off Whether to accept early (pre-release) plugins.
AOT cache on Uses a cache to speed up server start.
Disable Sentry off Turns off automatic error reporting.
Install SourceQuery plugin on Installs a plugin for server queries.
Query port blank An optional port for queries.

Join the server

Section titled “Join the server”

Find your address and port on the Network page. See Network and ports. We could not test joining with a real Hytale client, so if players cannot connect, open a ticket. See Contact support.
