Splits

Splits lets you carve part of your server’s resources off into a smaller, separate server. It is useful if you want a second server, such as a test server, without buying another plan.

Open Splits in the left menu (under Utilities).

How it works

The page opens with this note: Create smaller servers from your server. Resources you give a split are taken from your server.

It shows how much you can give away and how many splits you have used:

• RAM you can split
• CPU you can split
• Disk you can split
• Allocations you can split
• Backups you can split
• Splits used

The amounts are always a bit less than your plan’s totals, because your main server keeps some resources for itself. As an example, a server with 4 GB of RAM, 200% CPU, and 20 GB of disk showed 3 GB, 175%, and 19 GB available to split.

Create a split

1. Open Splits and find Create Split.
2. Fill in the form:
   • Name and Description.
   • Egg: the game software for the new server.
   • RAM (MB), CPU (%), and Disk (MB): how much to take from your server.
   • Allocations, Databases, and Backups: how many of each to give it.
3. Press Create Split.

Anything you give the split is no longer available to your main server, so leave enough for your main server to run.
